Garage of Evil!!

A Community of Halloween Prop Builders

Sorry for the Cross Post (also in the GoE local Group), but I wanted to get the word out to anyone that might want to attend.

There are also a number of power supplies available (I have some) to purchase at the event, let me know asap, so I can reserve one for you ...

The next 09 D&T is all about worshiping that most sacred of haunt materials, extruded foam. Be it pink or blue, it's the construction material of choice for most haunters and it's something haunters of all skill levels and interests use on a regular basis.

This D&T will focus on building the variable hot wire power supply that Pete developed. This thing is Cthuhlu's gift to carving foam. It's that awesome. So although there will be drinking and thinking, this event will also feature making and taking. Everyone that's building will have a working hot wire power supply to take home, just in time for tombstone carving season! Bear in mind how you decide to use this rig is all you, but be assured no shortage of ideas will be discussed. I'll be bringing the "Mark 11 Foam-Erator" I built to demo one way you can use the power supply as the heart of a home brew, but pro level, foam tool.

Right now the plan is we're going to do this one on the Cape at Pete and Michelle's place, as they have been gracious enough to host it. We figured this is going to have much broader appeal than the usual nerd stuff I host, and they have bigger digs. Even so, space will be a bit limited so we're going to make sure that those building the hot-wire rig get preference. On a positive note, even with shipping you're only going to need to shell out a little over 20 bucks to build one, so there is no reason to NOT make one.

Here is a parts list, refer to the How-To if need be:

There will also be some additional 'Bonus' content for building Low Voltage PAR lighting Cans, as well as seeing some of my other creations (Oszlar, Continuouis Fog ....)

Oh and I do have a stash of the PET power supplies available should you need one.
The rest of the parts are widely available and cheap. ($16 for the PET supply to recoup the cost and shipping).

More details on the Local 666 group if needed
