Does anyone know if we have a place or repository where we can download foam design files?  Over the course of a year we see so many great designs and ideas that I'm guessing most people had to draw…Continue

Where do you draw the line? A blog to make you think....

I'm new to haunting (4 yrs now) and I love it but I've noticed something.... I've changed.  As I build my props my desire for realism has actually exceeded what real is.  For example, I recently had the privilege of going into the catacombs of a Polish Church in Krakow where open caskets were on display.  Real people, real bodies, decayed in their natural form over the period of hundreds of years.  My first thought... my props look better and have we as a society become desensitized?  If the…

As I make the final push to be ready for my party I can't help but to think of the amount of work it's taken to get ready, not to mention the money. In fact, when I do think about it, it really is a sort of lunacy. I host a 2200 sq ft party. I built a church entry way, spent a grand on my sound system and club lighting, not to mention roughly 1500 staples, 500 ft of jute, and 100 ft of 10ft wide black plastic. The hours this has taken really have been incredible when you take a chance to stop… Continue

Humans tend to suck.... how to you prevent or are you concerned with theft?

I spend more time than I thought I would hear gaining inspiration from the props all of you build. Hopefully you do the same from my projects and pictures. As I look around though I see all the work you put in and then display your haunts outside which leads me to think... what about theft or vandalism for that matter?

I'm somewhat different since I close up my entire space in my barn and really I don't have a haunt, I just host a giant party... but what do you do? Is it a factor?

This was comment on your picture of zombie baby titled: Baby

Thee old spinning head Zombie baby! Seams zombies are the thing this year, Zombie Babies atleast, especially at Spirit Stores and PartyCity. I dropped about two thousand in past year on tools, props, pneumatics, effects, lumber. Okay, more like three grand. I found the Monsterguts Nerve Center to be difficult to program and the sound quality sucked. I discovered Halloween companies are the worst place to buy pneumatic cylinders and fittings. Frightprops Flash Cracker was my favorite new effect this year. Awesome startle effect for a very small price. I have used a quality 400 watt, 1500 output fog machine for past decade and many cheapo ones during those years, and this year I upgraded to a 20,000 output machine - that's 13 times more fog, so I plan to dilute the fog fluid with distilled water - as it sucks down 125 ml fluid per minute; that's a 5 dollar pint bottle of Walmart fog fluid every 8 minutes.

I used pvc to build a stem/neck. You can't play regular music as all of the background music aside from the vocals causes the mouth to stay open without end. So, I liked the What's He Building in There skull from the Poison Props youtube video, and I checked with Frightprops on Talking Skulls. There was only one song I wanted from the disc they had, the Tom W. song, so I just ordered his CD used from Amazon. 2 bucks used, 3 for shipping, 5 total. Mailed to me in 3 days. Play on CD walkman or disc player, plug jack into skull, which comes with the skull from Cowlacious, plug portable speakers ( computer speakers ) into the output on skull, adjust movements of skull mouth, volume of speakers in conjunction with CD player...and then you need a body, that I haven't found yet, maybe next year. See my video on youtube channel HALLOWEENALIVE.

Hello. I used a 24V 2 AMP transformer from Radio Shack for my wire cutter power supply. It was like 12 bucks... got all the parts from radio shack. Must give credit to a guy on youtube though!
