Profile Information

The most important question! Do you build the elements that go into your haunt, and/or want to learn more about building props? Oh, and if you choose no, we're going to have to delete you.
How long have you been haunting:
Too long to mention!
Your haunt comprises...?
Static decorations
Your haunt - Do you prefer?
Spooky ambiance
Tell us a little about your haunt..
Usually, it's your standard foam graveyard. Built a mausoleum a few years ago, but last year everything was killed by high winds. So I have ideas...
When it comes to props/decorations in your haunt, would you say you are:
A crafter that makes everything from scratch
Which statement comes closest to describing your haunt's attitude toward kids?
for the kid's - not too scary
You understand that any non prop related content will be deleted?
You're deep into building, and suddenly... your build partner reaches for the last beer
You let them have it

No museum :(

Took a good look at my resources--time and otherwise--and the Museum just can't happen this year. I'll content myself with adding a few things to the cemetery.

Halloween Museum Project

This year I decided to leave the yard as it was last year, and instead of expanding the cemetery, I am converting the garage into a Halloween Museum.

The plan is to line the garage with false foam walls, paint 'em up, and install shelves to hold light items. I'll be displaying some of my collection of vintage Halloween stuff, plus crafting and using multimedia to walk folks through the centuries.

I will do my best to update here AND on my blog!

I haven't posted since 2009?

What is wrong with me?

Well, I won't go over ALL the cool stuff in the past few years. If you want to browse, check out my "Month of Spookdays" category, where I post what I'm doing each October.

Last October, we'd just moved, and I had about a month to build for the new yard. I managed some gravestones and a pretty cool mausoleum. Day…

Pirates. Arr.

Posted on July 21, 2009 at 8:19pm 4 Comments

It isn't my favorite subject, but this year's party at my old workplace is going to be Pirates. I had all sorts of big plans, but we moved, and I no longer have an actual "garage" of evil (cries). I have an itty-bitty craft space. So while someone else will have to build the big stuff, I shall content myself with making excellent small props.

What should be on my list?

I haunt in Kensington.  A few years back we started a local haunt group - Greater DC Home Haunters (you can find us on google groups).  We have about 30 member with 10 being very active.  We have done about 10 group builds and do an annual member haunt tour - it is the best thing we do.  We are actually having our annual planning meeting this Sunday In kensington.  If you have any interest, let me know or search for the group on google groups.  I will be out of town for the next few days so I may not be responsive.
