Well my display survived high winds and wet snow so that worry is pretty much at ease. But the way Mother Nature has been acting I'm worried about the integrity of the weather on Halloween! Shamefully as the worry wart I am I checked the extended forecast and it looks like rain and cold???? God make the rain Go away at least until November!!!!

Bad Economic Times and Good human nature!!

Hello all!! October is apon us and the clock starts to countdown faster for us Haunters. Before I finish my final project I wanted to reflect and give thanks to those who got me here! I am a single dad who is raising two boys and am currently laid off. My Halloween budget is bust so being frugal and yet desparate to do some Halloween decorating I had called upon fellow man to help me, thru asking for donated materials and scouring freecycle and craigslist! Currently I have only expended $38.00… Continue

Ghetto Foam Gravestone etching!

Posted on September 29, 2009 at 11:14am 8 Comments

Well after drooling over Steve-O's Amazing stones I set out to experiment myself. I don't own a router, dremel or roto zip so Im left with two options. (1) carve out the foam manually or (2) chemically remove. Option 1 is out cause I have A.D.D and the patience of a sugared up 3 year old at a carnival. I remember workin on my FCG in its first stages and tried to spray paint the foam head only to have it turn to a glop of molten goo! Remembering this! I experimented on stones. In first pic I… Continue

Thanks for the welcome, Dave!  Got my invitations ready for our Laisse le bon temps Ghoul-er party today!  Now I need to get down to it!  Think I need to work on my Marie Lavoue tomb next!

I saw that last night actually. I still need to buy a 2nd fogger for my chillers so I'll be out getting one. Happy I only need one and not two though.

Thanks Dave! I'm new at prop making! I can't wait to get started (trying) to bring some ideas to life! Or death, as the case may be! Great pics! I love the Reaper and the Jack o' lantern scarecrow. I have a thing for scarecrows! ;)

Dave, for the corpse's skin I used pantyhose covered in liquid latex, then painted with wood stain. Rob outlines this process more clearly here.

Thanks for the help on the laser vortex. Any ideas on how to make it brighter. Right now I am using a converted cat toy laser.

Thanks Dave. I'm going on my third year of hosting a Halloween party for my friends and this is the first year I began looking into DIY stuff. I'm glad I came across this site as well as all the great ideas I'm finding on Youtube videos.
Do you use the 2" foam or the 1"? The 1 is a lot cheaper but I'm guessing the 2 looks a lot better in terms of looking realistic.
