Homemade LED Spotlights

Here is a brief tut. on how I made my LED spotlights. I was inspired by Nepboard's post here. I wanted something a little more inconspicuous, so I went scrounging in my basement when I came across… Continue

Just finished my first corpse

Well, here he is..my first corpse. This project ended up being easier and quicker than I expected. I named him Skully because the Bucky skeleton that I used came with an awful case of scoliosis (he was a 4th class). Anyway, I used Skull and Bone's tutorial (here) as a rough guide, but honestly made it up as I went along. I used the pantyhose like the tutorial advised, and the end result looks great. Instead of the carpet adhes… Continue

New Tombstone

Here is a tombstone for a little girl I just finished. I was debating making this one for some time now, because of the moral issues associated with a yound child dying, etc. But, I decided to make it because I had 2 dolls that were just begging to be creeped up a little for the big night. I hope I don't offend anyone, because that is not my intention.

For Sale Sign

Here is a sign I just finished. It is based on the sign made by the folks at TheFrightGallery.com. A pic of their sign is below.

Anyway, I made the sign itself (not the wooden post) last year, but I didn't age it at all (no moss or brownish paint on sign), and didn't have time to incorporate it into the display. The sign is carved from 2" extruded foam, and painted. The post is made from a f… Continue

Halfway to Halloween

Alright, so there's only half a year (6 months) until Halloween and I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand, it's the day I live for, where all of the hard work pays off. On the other hand, I HAVE NOTHING READY YET!! I mean, sure I've started some stuff and have ideas, plans, etc. but I haven't gotten my butt up to finish anything yet, and It's already halfway to Halloween. Oh, okay, that's enough for now.

Thank you nightride. Last year was our first Halloween party and it was a great time. This year should be even better!

Thanks about the coffin. If there wasn't a winter storm going on today I would have mad another one.
I'm using the latex for my corpse hands (and eventually the corpse face). The hands in my pictures were made using carpet adhesive. The pictures were taken while they were still wet. When they dried the adhesive shrank by half. I have to retouch them and they still aren't going to be as cool as the "how-to" that I learned form shows. So I thought about just getting the latex.

Have a great evening!

The year I did my trees I couldn't get the regular mixes to work. They'd mold before they dried because of the humidity. One layer, no kidding. I turned to elmers and water with a couple of drops of bleach added and it worked like a charm. Also used paper napkins, smoother finish and some even look like skin when they dry.

It took me a long time as well to get it all done and it still isn't the way I want them. I am in the process of getting the stuff for fiberglassing them. Not really looking forward to it but it would be nice to be able to leave them outside all year. Have you seen the pics of mine? One of the things I found with the mache is to use some craft net over the final layer of the paper. You can get some pretty good detailing with it. What are you using for the mache?

Thanks for the welcome! I see you've done the mache tree as well. Is it finished yet?
