This year's YMCA haunt is Grim Tales. We are working on a number of fairy tale and nursery rhyme themed scenes, including Hansel and Gretel (witch in the oven), Old Mother Hubbard (no shortage of…Continue

Wiper Motor Wiring Reverse Engineering

Posted on March 2, 2011 at 11:00pm 4 Comments

I came into a surplus wiper motor from a 99 Villager. This is my first experience with a wiper motor. Anybody have good pointers or pointers to pointers on how to reverse engineer its 5 connectors?

I should add that I have a good grasp of basic electrical systems, motors and electronics (physics degree) but I just don't have experience with multi-terminal wiper motors.

Fire Safety Part Two - Visqueen, Sprinklers, and Mazes, Oh My!

Posted on June 24, 2010 at 12:19am 0 Comments

There have been some developments on the topic of my earlier blog about dealing with the fire marshal that I thought might be of interest to other users. I covered the conclusions about the fire watch in the other post, so if you're interested in those particulars have a look there.

The big wrinkle that came up in the course of my meeting with the FD folks turned out not to be the relatively… Continue

Inspiration - Dead Methodists

Recently had a trip to Kentucky where, unlike South Florida, one can find things older than the mid 20th century. We had occasion to visit a cemetery where some ancestors on my wife's side are interred that has graves dating back pre-1800. I took a number of pictures of the stones. Unfortunately they were with my cell phone camera so they are not the best quality, but there is some good erosion detail and some overexposed but visible detail views of the mosses. Next trip (August) I will take my… Continue

One thing that's certain is that I want as compact a tool as possible, preferably one that stows easily in a case like my drill, etc. Space is at a… Continue

That for the comments and suggestions. I already use the rebar on everything. It works really well but I do not do any walls with it outside. I just use it for tombstones and all the props in the yard.
