Minutae

In November of 2008, I was exceptionally fortunate to inherit "The Haunt of Miss Rose" that Rob at SkullAndBone.com had so wonderfully crafted over the previous five years or more. You can read the full story in my blog entry - "The Transplanted Rose: A Haunter's Tale."

You can also listen to an awesome version of the story on the very first episode of Hauntcast as told by Revenant in his "News From Beyond" segment. My thanks to Rev and Chris Baker for featuring our story in their maiden voyage.

All of the images currently in my gallery were created and photographed by Rob at SkullAndBone during his time creating and displaying the haunt.

Please visit Rob at SkullAndBone.com to see more images of the original "Haunt of Miss Rose" and be sure to check out his must-read haunting tutorials on skeleton corpsing, haunt lighting and distressed clothing. They are required reading at the Haunter's Academy.

Needless to say, I am honored and excited to carry on this renowned haunt and I am definitely looking forward to its future with us. As always, my profound and undying respect and gratitude to Rob for his generosity. He truly is one of the classiest haunters around.

And to all the other haunters and community members who have left me posts, emails and comments with kind words of encouragement or congratulations... my humble and sincere thanks.

I can only hope to inspire some as Rob and so many others inspired me.

House Bloodthorn 2009 - The Resurrection of Rose

Though it seemed it wouldn't happen for much of the past few weeks, the weather improved and I couldn't have asked for a more perfect night. The moon was huge and bright. The air was crisp and still. The fog hung low. The lights burned dimly and for a few hours... the fates were with us and all was right with the world.

With over a hundred visitors, our first year with Rose was a resounding success. My humble and e… Continue

Candle, Candle Burning Bright...

Building and repair of the Haunt has commenced!

I thought I'd share one of the smaller, yet larger, projects to take on this year. That project was the faux candles that came with the haunt from Skull and Bone.

I say smaller in that, typically, PVC candles aren't very big.

I say larger by virtue of sheer numbers.

The originals from Rob were cut, grouped in some cases, and then slather-coated with "Fix-All" which is a powder that, when mixed with water, forms a sort of plaster. It bulked out… Continue

House GoE Page updated

Greetings all!

I've updated the House GoE page and added a few pictures of some of my pre-Rose props. This is what I got by with for the past 3 years and used in my window displays. It's mostly to illustrate how much I've been upgraded since acquiring THoMR.

Most of the shots have been staged and lit in my garage as I never really photographed my house on Halloween due to poor camera quality for low-light conditions. I have a digital camera now and, while not the most stellar quality, it takes… Continue

The Transplanted Rose: A Haunter's Tale

As some of my fellow haunters may, or may not, be aware, this past Halloween, Rob at SkullAndBone.com made the decision to end the renowned Miss Rose yard haunt that he has so wonderfully crafted over the past 5+ years.

I know a good many people have found his haunt and website to be a great source of inspiration, education and anticipation. Myself very much included. But, he felt it was time to move on to other endeavours.

Rob, being the classy… Continue
