Pre-2008
For years I decorated with 90% store bought props using lost of skeletons, spiders and spider webs and a homemade Alien, Billy Joe Bob the Hitch hiking alien.

2008
Then I found the plans for a Flying Crank Ghost (FCG). And that, as they say, is all she wrote. The FCG was the jump off point to total whacko year round prop design and building to make the next Halloween even better. It’s a condition for which there is no cure and requires increasing amounts of time and money to adequately treat. The treatment? Building more and better props, and communing with others as blighted and afflicted as you are.
So 2008 saw an FCG and the beginnings of a theme. Initially it was going to be a haunted castle built roughly off the images from Castle Culzean. Having not gotten started until Oct of 2008, I didn’t get very far. A gateway with a box tower on one side.

2009
Now a full blown case of Halloween-mania has set in and the plans for 2009 began even before 2008 was all packed away……………..

Dragonz Hollow began to take form, to evolve and mutate. Castle Culzean became a Dragons lair in a run down castle which then added cavern walls.

-A full blown cemetery with fencing began to take shape.
-A crypt for the FCG.
-Johnny Appleseed.
-A demented Pumpkin Scarecrow in the Grumble line.
-Tombstones and grave markers.
-A gated entry with columns for the driveway.

One side of the driveway could house a laser vortex and eventually be expanded into a maze. At least 2 fog chillers would be needed plus a fogger for the vortex.

-A curtain of fog descending over the entry into the lair so TOT’s have to go through it and can't see what's on the other side.

And on the other side? A Dragons lair. With blacklight stalactites inspired by an old Lost Mine ride from the now defunct Frontier Village in San Jose, Ca. A pneumatic Dragons head, but will I get that done this year? A dragon head pop up might be easier. Peppers ghosts, future work. A dragons tail viewed from the street which would twitch………..
