Garage of Evil!!

Hello..................I am a Halloween-aholic

I've been making 'haunts' for years but they were mostly 'store bought stuff, other than Billy Joe Bob the Hitch Hiking Alien.

Last Oct 1, I was laid off and decided to see what I could build. I found the plans for the FCG on Phantasmechanics and decided to try and tackle that with 3 weeks to go before H day (ever the optimist and CAN DO kinda person that I am).

It's interesting to note that in searching all over the web for house haunts the FCG seems to be the most common jumping off point for full blown ohmygoshlookatwhatIcanmakeIneedtostartworkingonnextyearspropsJan 1! itis. An incurable yet non fatal condition resulting in a variety of symptoms that can only be alleviated with power tool therapy and a large work and storage space.

Halloween 2009 I MUST HAVE a Crypt, a rebuilt FCG (throwing it together the last minute made it workable but no optimized), a Fog Chiller (gotta hit garage sales for coolers), an evil Pumpkin Jack and a Johny Appleseed scarecrow (pumpkinrot.com and spookyblue inspired projects) and the head, claw and tail of a dragon. The 'tunnel' portion of the castle will be a walk through and I want to use a 'scrim' box with the dragon head (jaw opening head moving forward). I'm just not sure if the head should be overhead or to the side. Decisions decisions. And maybe I can run some PVC over the opening so people have to walk through a blanket of fog muahahahahahahahaaa.

And maybe a Pepper's ghost.............so many props so little time. I'll take pics of the dragon head and if it works out post instructions.

Take one project at a time and you'll be cranking through props in no time.

I blame o freind and fellow haunter for outing me as a halloween addict, I was in the closset quietly trying to figure out how to build stuff for years. Then one day at Spats house, he and I are talking about Halloween and classic horror and my wife says "if you like it that much start building we have a big yard." I have been impossible to live with ever since.....

Welcome to the Asylum we won't cure you but we will help your addiction along!

YIKES Is that was I was like in the early stages of my addiction? Good luck with all of that I to was once like you but have eased back a little since we had to add that new shed for storage.

Consider dumping the cooler idea for the chiller. You need a damn big one to pull it off, and a big old plastic trash can is pretty cheap, and really holds a lot of ice. Whether you go for the dryer duct style or the vortex style they both work very well.

Speaking of the fog chiller, I found a complete Omaha Steaks cooler sitting on the side of the road. It was clean and fully intact. I'm thinking if it will keep steaks cold while shipping, it should work just fine to stretch my ice in this year's fog cooler. And best of all it's free.

Maybe you've got some friends who get the steaks and could save you the boxes. Scrounging is almost as much fun as scaring the kids!

Yeah I've had this site bookmarked under projects for a few months and only now joined.

Modular is the ONLY way to build. Easier to store and adapt later. :)

And you're just realizing this ...
Welcome to the insanity, the treehouse, etc etc etc
You're in the company of fellow HauntAHollics ... with power tools ;) and some of us are worse (better) off than others.

Our crypt is simple framed plywood and screwed together, This allows for easy reconfiguration and stroage ,,,, just one way
